Ocho Rios is located on the northern coast of Jamaica in the parish of St Ann. The name Ocho Rios, literally translated from the Spanish, means "Eight Rivers" but some believe it is a corruption of Las Chorreras, the waterfalls. Waterfalls are perhaps the most striking feature of the area with Dunns River Falls being the most famous. It is a vibrant resort town with many hotels, restaurants and attractions and is also the most popular cruise ship stop in the Caribbean. Its hard to imagine Ocho Rios as the sleepy little fishing village it once was.
The town of Ocho Rios has all that can expected from a thriving resort town with clubs, various eateries and lots of shops all geared towards the tourist. The countryside outside of town is stunning with many attractions to be enjoyed. There's Bob Marley's Mausoleum, Green Grotto Caves, Fern Gully and Columbus Park Museum to name a few.
Ocho Rios is ideal for those who want to enjoy the beauty of Jamaica and still have the fun and easy access to the amenities a big town has to offer.
